CRISTOFORO COLOMBO (CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS) OUR HERO
Once again, we get ready to celebrate a man who was courageous and a man with a vision, Christopher Columbus. Each year, there are those that want to rewrite our history books and make a demon out of the man who discovered our great country. We see it too often, how an Italian American hero gets villianized by the political correct gang.
WHEN WILL THIS STOP? In Colorado, they hold demonstrations against the Columbus Day parade. Many of these demonstrations have turned violent. The public schools say very little about the man who, not only discovered America, but proved to all that the world was round and not flat as believed. This discovery, led to many other explorers, to venture into the "new world".
This year, the Paterson School District in New Jersey, made a decision to keep the schools open on Columbus Day. That decision was immediately fought by Andre DiMino of the One Voice Coalition and UNICO. I am pleased to report, that the schools in Paterson will remain closed for Columbus Day. THANK YOU, ANDRE!
As Italian Americans, we should all celebrate Columbus Day. There are many parades held in his honor and many events taking place. We should all make it our business to attend as many as we possibly can. If your job does not give you the day off, I am urging you to take a vacation day and show your pride in being an Italian American.
